Innovation Guelph launches Fuel Injection seed funding program for start-ups and SMEs with support from FedDev Ontario

Release Date March 1st – Guelph
Start-ups and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from across southern Ontario will benefit from seed funding awarded through Innovation Guelph’s new Fuel Injection program, delivered in partnership with Bioenterprise Corporation, with financial support provided by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).
The Fuel Injection program is supported by an investment of up to $4,840,000 in Bioenterprise Corporation announced today by Lloyd Longfield, Member of Parliament for Guelph, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedDev Ontario.
Fuel Injection will provide companies working in manufacturing, sustainable technologies, social innovation, and other eligible sectors with grants of up to $30,000, to be matched in cash by the companies. Companies run by women will receive 25 per cent of Fuel Injection awards. The new program complements the Bioenterprise Seed Fund, which serves startups from the agriculture and agri-food sectors, and related sustainable technology companies.
As an important addition to Innovation Guelph’s signature business acceleration program Speedway, the Fuel Injection program will help companies innovate and become more competitive, resulting in job creation, revenue growth, additional investment, the launch of new products and services, and the implementation of waste, water, and energy improvements.
Innovation Guelph will issue an open call for Fuel Injection proposals in spring 2016 for companies from southern Ontario. The program will run until December 2018.
