Women are often quick to dismiss their “lack of creativity” – something that artist Rachael Rector has experienced firsthand. At a young age, Rachael showed herself how to be an artistic person, but over time she began to believe her artistic ability had landed elsewhere in her family. Eventually she journeyed back to the creative realm when her husband recognized she had an artistic gift and gave her paint, brushes and an easel for Christmas.

As a working artist and founder of Kitchener-Waterloo’s Social Art Studio, Rachael leads interactive group painting sessions and helps participants explore their artistic ability in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.

Join Rachael’s “Outside the Box” social painting workshop at Ignite. Empower. Innovate. 2016 and learn how to nurture your creative skills. Here’s more of what you can expect!

What can participants expect to learn during your session?

“I’m aiming for participants to be more confident in exploring their creative side – perhaps even encouraging them to believe they DO have a creative side – as well as embrace their style of creativity without comparing themselves to others.”

What skill do you think is most important for women to master in order to advance their career, and why?

“To confidently love others and see others needs as worth your time and care. There will always be more business you can tackle, but it’s important to see beyond the ‘business’ and love others in each and every opportunity you are given.”

What advice would you give to your younger self at the start of your career?

“Be more organized!”

What do women need to lead in the 21st century economy?

“A selfless heart full of love for others. The knowledge that people will follow and trust someone who is willing to put others first.”

What part of the event are you most excited about?

“Interacting one on one with women and encouraging them!”
