A fireside chat with Staples CEO, David Boone, and award-winning Professor of Organizational Behavior and HR Management at the University of Toronto, John Trougakos. A future-focused discussion on the rapidly evolving workplaces of the future with a focus on how leaders can embrace change with flexible frameworks supporting employee well-being, methods of working & productivity, emotional labor, and workplace social interaction in the hybrid model.

David Boone is CEO of Staples Canada, The Working and Learning Company. He is responsible for the company’s retail and online operations, overseeing more than 300 stores, staples.ca and its 10,000 associates. David is an experienced leader with a wealth of knowledge across multiple functional areas that include merchandising, marketing, data analytics and operations.

About John,

John Trougakos is an Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior and HR Management at the University of Toronto. His research explores the dynamics of employees’ daily organizational life, seeking to provide insights into current organizational challenges as well as those of the rapidly evolving workplaces of the future. He focuses specifically on leadership, employee well-being, methods of working & productivity, emotional labour, and workplace social interactions. John’s award-winning research has been published in numerous leading academic outlets and he has served as a member of the editorial boards for a number of top scientific journals. His industry collaborations include Staples Corporation, Hellenic Pharma, Deloitte, HP Canada, Bell Canada, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Defense, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Canadian Securities Trader Association, among many others.
