Toolkit Tuesday: Lunch & Learn: Take the thinking out of thinking: How to mitigate unconscious bias

January 18 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

When we make decisions based on ‘gut feel’ — which many of us do — we are actually relying on brain processes that lead to unconscious bias. This kind of thinking leads to seriously flawed decisions of which we are wholly unaware. In this Toolkit Tuesday session, Dr. Aaron Barth will explain what unconscious bias is, how it works against us and what tools and tactics are necessary to minimize its influence on our decision making. The end goal? Attendees will not only better understand how bias works, but how to combat it, so they can continue to collaborate in the building of a safe and inclusive community.

Presenter: Dr. Aaron Barth

TEDx Speaker, Workplace Science, E-learning and Inclusion Expert

Dr. Aaron Barth, thought-leader and president of Dialectic, gives progressive leaders the confidence they need to tackle their hardest people problems using scientific methods and innovative technological solutions. An organizational culture truth teller and sought-after speaker, Aaron uses science to dig below the surface of even the most seemingly innocuous business cultures to reveal the barriers and enablers of healthy and productive workforces. Dr. Barth’s engaging presence comes from a decade of experience igniting audiences to transform their organizations and ultimately increase their bottom line. Not only does he inspire attendees to be pillars of change within their workplace, he outlines the path to action by offering tools and tactics   a thriving workplace culture. He believes while awareness is important in eliminating systemic issues in the workplace, taking action is the only road to change.
