Have you checked out the Summer 2014 issue of col.lab.o.rate? The magazine’s cover story celebrates Guelph’s first B corporations, companies part of a global community working to redefine success in business beyond profit.
There are just over 1,000 certified B Corps in 33 countries around the world, and two of them – The Lucky Iron Fish Project and Shared Value Solutions – are headquartered in Guelph. That’s a pretty amazing ratio, and an even better indicator of the local values and global thinking that make our community distinct.
At IG, our vision of business success combines prosperity, social impact and community wellbeing. Our vision is part of the reason why we attract a diverse group of entrepreneurs, businesses and partners who are driving social and environmental change across a variety of sectors, here in Guelph and around the world.
So when we learned about Institute B, a Vancouver-based organization focused on businesses who “put profit and societal value on equal footing”, and their feature length documentary Not Business As Usual, we knew we had to partner with them to share this important film with the Guelph community.
The film is a provocative look at capitalism and its unintended price of success. Not Business As Usual tracks the changing landscape of business with the rising tide of conscious capitalism through the stories of local entrepreneurs who have found innovative ways to bring humanity back into business.
