SpeakFeel Corporation receives $50,000 MaRs Embedded Executive Funding

SpeakFeel Corporation, a Guelph-based venture specializing in integrated mobile solutions for B2B, was recently awarded $50,000 in funding through the MaRS Embedded Executive Funding program. An Innovation Guelph client since 2012, SpeakFeel is one of only 20 companies selected for the program from 105 applicants from across Ontario.

Kiran Panjwani, Program Manager for the Business Acceleration Program (BAP) at MaRS Discovery District in Toronto, said that SpeakFeel’s product and execution strategy made them stand out during the application review process.

“Given that SpeakFeel is now gaining traction through their strong monetization and marketing strategy, they applied to the Business Acceleration Program’s Embedded Executive Funding Program with a need for a business development executive who will help them establish key relationships and continue their expansion in the market at a faster rate.”

The MaRS Embedded Executive Funding program provides novel Ontario-based technology ventures with up to $50,000 to engage a C-level or other senior-level executive who will work with the venture to accomplish specific short-term goals or milestones. The venture contributes an additional $15,000 toward the Embedded Executive’s salary over the contract period. The Embedded Executive Funding program is funded through the Business Acceleration Program (BAP) to support entrepreneurs of the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs (ONE), of which Innovation Guelph is a part.

SpeakFeel has contracted Mark Rye as a strategic advisor for the company’s next phase of growth.

“Preparing for the launch of our new B2B platform requires intensive market research and analysis to ensure we’re building a product that meets the needs and is quickly adopted by manufacturing companies,” said Kelly Brooks, SpeakFeel Founder and CEO. “Mark not only has extensive experience in these areas, but he understands how quickly lean tech companies like SpeakFeel work and pivot. He’s a great fit for our culture and communicates well with our existing team.”

Speakfeel_markryeRye has a broad base of experience in the high tech landscape, having worked with both startups and major software vendors. He currently runs the consulting firm TechBoost, and brings 15 years of experience in product development, marketing and sales of software and professional services to SpeakFeel. Rye will play an active role in the prototyping, sales and delivery of SpeakFeel’s forthcoming ProductByCloud platform.

“SpeakFeel is a great group of technology professionals with deep expertise in mobile and cloud computing,” said Rye. “ProductByCloud will leverage insight gained by the company through their successful delivery of mobile solutions to product manufacturers in recent years. It’s an exciting time for the company, and I’m happy to be a part of this phase of their development.”

ProductByCloud is SpeakFeel’s second SaaS platform, and will assist manufacturing companies with product sales and support.

“SpeakFeel has built a solid reputation for advanced mobile solutions not only in Guelph and the region, but with enterprise clients globally,” said Kevin Boon, Client Services Manager at Innovation Guelph. “The MaRS Embedded Executive Funding comes at a perfect time for SpeakFeel as they build their new product lines. Having access to Mark’s insight and talent will help take their business to the next level.”
