As part of our ongoing series to celebrate Innovation Guelph’s 10th anniversary and learn about the people who have been part of this incredible journey, we chatted with Andrey Bolgov, a business development consultant with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
Bolgov works collaboratively with the Innovation Guelph team to support innovation and help new companies enter the food and beverage market.
We asked Bolgov to reflect on his experiences with Innovation Guelph and he said he participated in the “Leaders Helping Leaders” event organized by Innovation Guelph last year.
“It was great to talk about the supply chain challenges in the food and beverage industry during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. This joint approach to solving industry challenges is the right way to create more awareness and identify potential solutions.”
On the importance of supporting innovation, Bolgov said, “I am very passionate about innovation and emerging technologies. I believe that innovation is the key tool for economic development, and these days especially, it’s instrumental for developing sustainable ways to address challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Thinking beyond the pandemic, Bolgov added, “I think it’s essential to build an ecosystem that would foster and encourage more investment in emerging technologies and innovation. I believe that these changes are critical for the economic prosperity of Canada and will build a solid foundation for the future of this country for generations to come.”
To entrepreneurs considering getting involved with IG, Bolgov said, “Innovation Guelph offers great networking resources and lots of expertise and knowledge via its vast network of mentors – an excellent resource for any new company.”
The 10th anniversary is a major milestone – congratulations to the whole Innovation Guelph team. I look forward to continuing our work in the future! — Andrey Bolgov, Business Development Consultant, Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
