The Rhyze Award program not only provides funding for women entrepreneurs to finance their businesses, but the mentoring and support they need at key stages of their development to build and grow their business long term. The Rhyze Award was the first program to emerge from research completed on The Rhyze Project, in an effort increase the number of women-owned businesses in Guelph and Wellington County to 30 per cent by 2025.

The ideal recipient is a women entrepreneur with a new or existing business in Guelph or Wellington County facing growth challenges.

A volunteer panel of experts reviewed each application and selected the finalists based on a variety of factors, such as having clearly defined and accessible target markets, a sound business proposition, and clearly articulating their story. The entrepreneurs behind these products and services are dedicated and demonstrate strong skill sets.

The finalists’ products or services are innovative, solving real world problems, with many of them filling gaps in existing markets or creating new markets entirely. It was important for each entrepreneur to demonstrate a strong passion for her product or service. The impact the award would have on each business was also considered.

The chosen applicants will attend a Pitch Camp where they will receive coaching and support to refine their pitch leading up to the Pitch Competition and Award Night on June 6. The top pitches will receive one of four cash awards up to $10,000 with a matching low interest loan from Meridian Credit Union.
